NDLTD is an organization dedicated to the Open Access Movement. As such, all NDLTD services and resources are available at no cost to anyone, regardless of membership status. This is made possible through the efforts of unpaid volunteers who organize NDLTD's activities. As a result, NDLTD's administrative overhead is extremely low. NDLTD funds travel awards so students and library staff from developing nations may attend NDLTD conferences. NDLTD funds research projects and the NDLTD Union Catalog. Finally, NDLTD needs some resources to run and administer the organization and the yearly conferences. To raise funds for these activities, NDLTD has a membership program for individuals and institutions. The primary benefit of membership is the knowledge that you and/or your institution contribute to the goals of NDLTD, the knowledge that you support the growth of high-quality ETD repositories, and the knowledge that you support individuals and institutions around the world that may not be able to afford active participation in NDLTD activities, but still benefit from its online resources. Membership also has tangible privileges:
We cordially invite individuals, academic libraries, universities, and other organizations involved in disseminating and archiving electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) to become members of the NDLTD. Membership will connect you to a growing community dedicated to improving access to scholarly works. NDLTD is an 501(c)3 USA nonprofit organization. Donations to NDLTD may be tax deductible for USA individuals and organizations. |
